Getting an account: Accounts are available to faculty and staff of TAMU-Q, Qatar Foundation, and other Education City campuses with legitimate needs. To request an account, please fill out the Account Request Form outlining your affiliation and how you plan to use the cluster. You will receive an account agreement form to sign, and once the agreement is in place, your account will be created and you will receive instruction on how to access the cluster.
Accessing the cluster: Please use SSH to log into saqr.qatar.tamu.edu. For file transfer, please use SCP.
Changing your password: After logging in via SSH, you can use the passwd command to change your password. You will need to change your password at least every 3 months.
Compiling Applications:
Compilers are available in the following locations:
Absoft Fortran Suite: /common/Applications/Absoft/bin/
IBM XLF Fortran Suite: /opt/ibmcmp/xlf/8.1/bin/
GCC 3.3 and 4.0: /usr/bin/
G95: /usr/bin/
Parallelized compilers for MPICH: /common/bin/

Installed Applications:
Most applications are installed into /common/bin:
lammps: /common/bin/lammps-mpich and /common/bin/lammps-lam-mpi
Submitting Jobs:
1. Download the sample job submission script, or copy it from /common/examples/sample.sh to your home directory.
2. Edit the parameters in the script to reflect the needs of your job.
3. Submit the job using this command: qsub script_name.sh
4. To check the status of your job, use the qstat command. The output will display pending jobs, with the jobID associated with each. For a more detailed report, use the command qstat -j jobID.
5. To delete a job, use the command qdel jobID
Using Gaussian:
First, please note that Gaussian requires a more specialized submit script. Please download the sample gaussian job submission script, or copy it from /common/examples/gaussian-sample.sh to your home directory.
Second, if your job requires Linda, please note that Linda uses rsh by default, which is not allowed on the SAQR cluster. In order to force Linda to use ssh, please download the .tsnet.config file or copy it from /common/examples/.tsnet.config to the root directory of your home directory (not the current working directory for the program you are running.)
